VGR Equipment is highlighting the qualities and applications of the TopChanger XP in a series of articles. This fifth edition focuses on the TopChanger XP as a solution to poor drainage.
Many greens and sports fields suffer from water drainage problems. After rainfall, water lingers for a long time, drains poorly, or forms puddles. The cause: compacted layers, blocked capillary pores, and a lack of vertical drainage channels. Water accumulation affects playing quality and can cause lasting damage to the turf.
Addressing the Root Cause
The TopChanger XP tackles this problem at its core. Using powerful water pressure, it blasts vertical channels open right into the compacted layer. In the same pass, sand is injected into these channels, preventing them from closing up again and ensuring the pore structure remains permanently open.
More Active Soil Life
The result is improved soil permeability, faster rainwater drainage, and a more active soil biology. Unlike traditional drainage systems, there’s no need to dig trenches or install pipes. The TopChanger XP works selectively and efficiently, without disturbing sprinklers or underground infrastructure — ideal for greens and sports fields where sub-surface systems are sensitive.
